Partnerships
The Forestry Act (1967) gives the Commissioners powers to pay grants to private landowners for, and in connection with, the use and management of land for forestry purposes. The Forestry Act also provides for the Commissioners 'to aid the establishment and carrying on, of woodland industries'; and to collect information and undertake research, training and educational activities. Historically nearly all the support given to private sector forestry has been through grants to individual landowners. But now the Commission increasingly works through partnerships.
