How to get to the Witch's Trails

The Witch's Trails run between Torlundy and Spean Bridge in Lochaber, close to Fort William.  The main access point is at the Forestry Commission car park at the Nevis Range.

By bike

A dedicated cycle path runs from Fort William to the Nevis Range.  You can pick it up on the north side of Fort William by the A82.  Not only is it safer than riding on the road - it's slightly shorter too.

By car

The Nevis Range lies on the A82 Fort William - Spean Bridge road.

For the Nevis Range car park
Follow the A82 north from Fort William for about 7km and then turn right where signposted.  Follow this road for approximately 2km to reach the Forestry Commission car park by the Nevis Range.  If coming from Spean Bridge, turn left off the A82 as signposted.  The distance from Spean Bridge to the Nevis Range junction is around 7km.

By public transport

By bus 

The Scottish Citylink service 919 runs daily between Inverness and Fort William, stopping at Spean Bridge and Torlundy (for Nevis Range).  Journey time from Fort William is 7 minutes to Torlundy and 15 minutes to Spean Bridge.  From Inverness, Spean Bridge is 1 hour 30 minutes, with Torlundy a further 8 minutes down the road.

Bikes are carried on Scottish Citylink services free of charge provided they are in an approved box or bag and that there is sufficient space in the luggage hold.  See the Scottish Citylink website for further details.

Highland Country Buses service 42 runs daily between Fort William bus station and the visitor centre at the Nevis Range.  Journey time is around 15 minutes.

By train

The nearest train station is at Fort William, approximately 7km from the Nevis Range junction by road.  You might need to book in advance to take your bike on the train.  See First Scotrail's information for cyclists.  Journey time to Fort William is roughly 3 hours 45 minutes from Glasgow.
