Information on trail closures and diversions, changes to scheduled events, and forest operations.

Trails all open

The '10 at Kirroughtree' 10hr endurance event is taking place on Saturday 10 July. The event will include parts of the blue and red route out as far as the start of the 'White Witch'. The way marked trails will still be open but please give way to the 500+ competitors taking part.

Tree Harvesting at Glentrool

Harvesting operations are taking place at Glentrool. There will be timber lorries and harvesting machines working in this area. Although we hope to minimise diversions on paths/trails, please check the trail diversions information below.

Please adhere to all on site signage and take extra care.  Any diversions that do have to be implemented will be noted here and on the 7stanes website if trail routes are affected.

Visitor centres

Visitor centres and toilets are now open at Glentrool, Kirroughtree and Claterringshaws.

Trail closures

None at present.

Trail diversions

Due to forest works at Kirroughtree the start of the green cycle route and the papy ha trail have been diverted.  This work also affects the final forest road section of all bike routes.  Please follow all diversions that are in place.  We hope to have this work finished for 29th/30th June.

The Southern Upland Way section of the Loch Trool green trail is diverted due to forest operations. This will be in place for roughly two months. Please follow diversion signs on the ground. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Event changes

There are currently no changes to any of our scheduled events.

Diversions, closures and your safety

Forest operations take place throughout the year across the whole of Galloway Forest Park. To ensure the safety of you, our staff and contractors, we sometimes have to divert a trail. In some cases we might have to close a trail completely, however we try very hard to keep this to a minimum.
