AUTUMN EVENTS IN DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY
Families in Dumfries and Galloway looking for something to do in the Autumn are in for a treat if they visit Galloway Forest Park.
Galloway Forest Park is situated near Newton Stewart and is the perfect base for a host of Autumnal activities including:
Roaring Stags. Held on Sunday 5 October from 10am - 12noon, visitors can see the annual deer rut. Forestry Commission Scotland rangers will be on hand to talk to visitors and offer information about the lives of the deer.
If you miss the roaring stags day, visitors have a second chance to see it during Rutting week held from Monday 6 - Friday 10 October from 10am - 12noon.
No booking is required. The event is held at the Galloway Forest Red Deer Range on the A712 3 miles south of Clatteringshaws Loch. Tickets cost £4 for an adult, £3.50 for concession, £2.50 for children and a family ticket (two adults and two children) costs £10. Hold onto your ticket from 5 October and you can enter the rutting week for £1 per person per day.
