All Abilities Trail
 

A pleasant route taking in some interesting features. With wide, even paths to suit everyone. Look out for the poetry trail, 'Garden Wood' sensory garden, and forest pond along the way.

How to get there:

All Abilities Trail can be started from Mabie Forest Car Park in Mabie Forest which is part of Forests of the Solway Coast. Dumfries and New Abbey are the nearest towns or villages.

From Dumfries, follow the A710 New Abbey road. The forest is signposted 4 miles south of Dumfries. (NOTE 'Mabie Farm Park' is signposted just before the entrance to the forest. There is no vehicle access to the forest from here.)The nearest train station is in Dumfries.

Mammals: Mabie Forest is home to many woodland animals, including red squirrels, badgers and roe deer. We have information about Red squirrel, Roe deer and Badger

Birds: There are many kinds of bird to spot in the forest. Check out the RSPB website for information on recognising them (link in right hand column).

Insects and reptiles: Why not come along to a pond dipping session in the summer to see all the different insects and amphibians that lurk beneath the surface? Check our Events guide for dates and details. See link in right hand column.
