Recreation at Hyndlee Forest

Hyndlee forest is part of the much larger Wauchope forest. The planting, which has taken place within the last 20 years in Wauchope, reflects a much more open minded approach than the original planting. Much work has been undertaken to safeguard rare and threatened wildlife living in the forest. The conservation interests are black grouse, red squirrel, goshawk, salmon and juniper.

Walking, cycling and horse riding are all welcome at Hyndlee but caution must be taken on sections of shared singletrack. The singletrack section of the Cauldron MTB trail is unsuitable for horses.

How to get there:

Hyndlee Forest is part of Forests of the Scottish Borders. Hawick and Bonchester Bridge & Newcastleton are the nearest towns or villages.

From Hawick head to Bonchester Bridge on the A6088. Turn right on to the B6357 south towards Newcastleton for approximately two miles, Hells Hole is the first access point to Hyndlee and is on the right hand side.
